One of the few co-ed sports at the collegiate level, rifle has found it's niche and developed the competitive scene across the United States. Average team size around every level hovers around seven athletes per team and the average awarded scholarship across all divisions and schools is $13,859 for men and $14,293 for women. While the number of sponsored teams is comparatively low with only 31 total schools competing, the number will only continue to grow, allowing more athletes to compete.
Rifle Season and More Info:
The competitive rifle season at the collegiate level runs from October until March. The two different competitions sponsored are "smallbore" and "air rifle". The most successful schools at the NCAA D-I level are West Virginia (19 titles) and Alaska (10 titles).
