Typically seen as a "niche sport" or only for schools up north, prospective student athletes should know that skiing is anything but that. With almost 1,000 male and female athletes, skiing is a national recognized collegiate sport at all levels of the collegiate game. Regarding scholarships, the average award for men's skiing is $6,202 dollars, while the average award for women's skiing is $6,488.
Ski Season and More Info:
Obviously held in the winter time, the competitive ski season is long, with many different events being used in the various competitions around the country. At the NCAA level, the events are as follows: freestyle cross country, classical cross country, slalom and giant slalom. All four competitions are held for both men and women.
