With more than 650 teams across all levels of competitive collegiate swimming, countless opportunities to win scholarships are available. With an average of 21 swimmers per team, each university recruits swimmers that swim all types of strokes. There were approximately 10,823 men swimming and 13,875 female swimmers in 2017-2018.
Swimming is an equivalency sport which means that scholarship values are generous, with an average of 6,595.50 being awarded to both the men's and women's game.
Swimming Season and More Info:
The collegiate swimming season for both men and women begins in October and culminates in March with championships for respective conferences and tournaments. The most recent NCAA champions (2018) for the men's side is the University of Texas-Austin. The most recent women's champion is Stanford.
