As one of the oldest collegiate sports, tennis offers many opportunities for student-athletes to follow their dreams and pursue an education in the United States. With almost 1,200 schools sponsoring the sport and more than 20,000 current student athletes, tennis is providing scholarships for the next generation. The average team size is 10 and universities participate in both singles and doubles tournaments.
Tennis Season and More Info:
The competitive structure for tennis is straightforward, with the season beginning in October and running through April. During the championship portion of the season, winners are recognized at the university, team and individual level. In the 2017 season, although the overall team champion was Wake Forest, the Men's doubles team from UCLA won their respective competition. For the women's competitions, Florida won the team national championship and the doubles pair of Francesca Di Lorenzo and Miho Kowase won it from Ohio State.
